The most controversial environmental issue of the 1980s - the damming of the Franklin River in Tasmania - produced one of the most fanciful posters of the period. It was the work of eccentric Sydney artist Harold 'The Kangaroo' Thornton, and was based on his 1983 Archibald Prize entry Doctor Brown and green old time waltz.
