Photographer, Harold Edgerton, captured the movement and motion of people, things and animals. See Jackie the dog jumping over a bench and an owl flying? The owl’s wings create a wide arch, up and down. While Edgerton saw himself as an engineer, rather than an artist, his photographs are now collected by art galleries around the world. He was the first photographer to take high-speed colour photographs and was devoted to capturing on film what the eye could not see. Have you ever taken a photograph of your pet or an animal why it is moving?
Activity: Take a photograph of your pet or another animal while they are moving. Are you able to change the settings on your camera to allow the animal’s movement to be captured? You might have to experiment for a while.
