Edition Notes: A 23 colour, including eight white papers and painted materials from the artist's studio, woodcut, etching, relief, lithograph, collage, handcoloured printed from four woodblocks, one copper plate, one magnesium plate and one aluminium plate. Dark purple and dark blue were printed on TGL paper (woodcut). Green (etching, copper plate) and white (relief, magnesium plate) were printed on Ise Dosa paper.Light blue was printed on Mulberry paper (lithograph, aluminium plate). Red was then printed on Mulberry paper (woodcut). Red was printed on Nacre paper (same block used previously). These printed papers were cut, assembled, and adhered with materials prepared in the artist's studio (blue and gold painted paper and sheer drapery fabric painted with light green Liquitex medium with gold leaf applied). Yellow-ochre was then printed (woodcut). After printing and collaging, the artist handcoloured each print with blue and black acrylic paints and green Paintstick. Papermaking by Steve Reeves and Tom Strianese. Woodblock proofing and edition printing by Roger Campbell, Reeves and Strianese. Copper plate preparation and processing by Rodney Konopaki, proofing and edition printing by Konopaki and Bob Cross. Magnesium plate preparation by Kenneth Tyler, with processing by Swan Engraving, proofing and edition printing by Strianese. Prep work for continuous-tone lithography by Tyler. Aluminium plate preparation and processing by Lee Funderburg, proofing and edition printing by Campbell and Funderburg. Preparation and adhering of collage elements by Reeves and Strianese. "Edition and Monoprint Collage" series - The nine editioned and 20 unique monoprint collages completed by Steven Sorman in 1985 were assembled from impressions made on Oriental and Western papers and materials the artist prepared in his studio and brought to the workshop. He created his print imagery using found architectural wood ornaments and drawn copper, magnesium and aluminium plates. Sorman layered papers, contrasting shades of white and off-white, natural and yellow-ochre. His compositions involve a complex range of tones and colours that result from collaged papers, printed inks and painted drawn areas.
