"Edition and Monoprint Collage" series - The nine editioned and 20 unique monoprint collages completed by Steven Sorman in 1985 were assembled from impressions made on Oriental and Western papers and materials the artist prepared in his studio and brought to the workshop. He created his print imagery using found architectural wood ornaments and drawn copper, magnesium and aluminium plates. Sorman layered papers, contrasting shades of white and off-white, natural and yellow-ochre. His compositions involve a complex range of tones and colours that result from collaged papers, printed inks and painted drawn areas.
