The Richie children 1862 Description: group of portraits of two sisters and two brothers with a fine upholstered chair and pedestal with garden as props. In some the girls hold flowers and books, in others the boys a horse-drawn carriage and a toy Arabian knight. Sitters identified in ink on the mount. Numbered '34899' in ink on image. An uncut sheet of eight carte-de-visite proofs from the Disderi studio. Provenance: Disderi Studio | Maurice Levert.
Creation Notes: The negative number indicates a date of 1862. The latter is suggested by a surviving Disdéri studio ledger published by Elizabeth Anne McCauley her monograph A E Disdéri& the Carte-de-visite Portrait Photograph, New Haven & London: Yale, 1985 ( p.225).
