Portrait of a man in a smock (possibly a painter) c.1855 Description: What a striking pose! With his hands on his hips and a snarl on his lips, this young man holds an object between his knees. Is it a light cane? I think not. It looks like an artist's brush. With his smock he is most probably an artist. His cap lies casually on the lace-draped studio table. The striped shirt under the smock shows that the man has flair. The young man has his cap on the table beside him wears a striped shirt under a smock and strikes a confident pose with his hands on his hips , the object between his knees may be a light cane or artist's brush.
