Edition Notes: Two colours printed: black and grey. The poem written by Rafael Alberti is printed in two colours: black for the Spanish text and grey for the English text. The text is printed on a double folded page. Please see attachment in 'Multimedia' tab for full text. Robert Motherwell prepared the nineteen lithographic images in 'El Negro' on Mylar and acetate sheets using Paintstiks, grease pencils and alcohol tusche which he applied with brushes and a bamboo pen. The images were transferred to aluminium plates by Lee Funderburg. The plates were printed by Funderburg and Roger Campbell on a flat bed offset press. Papermaking by Steve Reeves and Tom Strianese.
