Edition Notes: The artist notes: The plate was initially etched five times in Dutch mordant for the top and bottom linear sections. Next, the central section with the rendered images was worked over sixty times with a 50-point mezzotint rocker till it printed entirely black. The main still-life objects were then added in, using an etching scraper, followered by the background drapery. Finally, the highlights were polished with a burnisher until they appear white. The total time taken to do the plate was ten months. [Art and Australia, vol.19, no.4, 1982, p.402.]
