  • Parke often achieves his distinctive visual language through long exposures; the effects of light over time transforming the ordinary into images infused with a mythic, poetic sensibility. Minutes to midnight, a series made between 2003 and 2005 on an epic two-year, 90,000-kilometre road trip around Australia, contains in equal parts scenes of great beauty and optimism for the future, together with moments of violence and a sense of loss, acknowledging that the world he had grown up in was long gone.
