Edition Notes: Woodblock I and II. A 40 colour (10 dye colours and 30 ink colours) relief, woodcut printed from five magnesium plates and two woodblocks with inlaid irregularly shaped aluminium plates. First, a newly made white pulp base sheet was coloured with the following dyes: yellow, light orange, red-orange, vermilion, magenta, pale light violet, light violet, pale purple, blue and yellow-green. After the paper was pressed and dried, the printing sequence was as follows: orange, dark red, brown-red, violet, tan, and green (woodcut with inlay); medium yellow, orange, dark magenta, blue, dark green, black and gold (woodcut with inlay); yellow, red, pink, purple, green, dark green, and white (relief, magnesium plate); yellow (same plate used for previous colours, inked only in area used previously for white); red and black (relief, magnesium plate); blue (relief, magnesium plate); green (relief, magnesium plate); yellow , orange, red, dark blue, and white (relief, magnesium plate). Papermaking by Steve Reeves and Tom Strianese. Plate preparation and processing by Kenneth Tyler and Pete Duchess. Woodblock preparation by the artist and Tyler with magnesium inlay by Bob Cross. Proofing by Reeves, Strianese and Tyler with edition printing by Reeves and Strianese.
