Tertiary Insc: Inscribed l.c.-l.r., below image, pencil 'Though the background and foreground has been / much repainted & the Turban of the rider renewed, the portrait is / a very exact and untouched likeness, finely painted - note pock / -marking on face - The horse too shows good draftsmanship & modelling'; stamped l.r., below image, black ink, seal of ownership; inscribed verso, c.c., black ink 'GA.P2 / H'abad 1927'.
