Listen … can you hear the sound of a dragonfly’s wings?
Artist David Rose depicts a floating frog and buzzing dragonflies. These small creatures appear to be lazily going about their business in a river or pool on a hot dry day in the bush. They could spring into action at any moment. The Australian landscape is a favourite subject for David Rose. In these works of art he shows us how some of the smallest Australian animals spend their time.
Activity: Draw a frog on a piece of paper. Cut the frog shape out of your paper so that you have a stencil in the shape of the frog. Experiment with placing the stencil shape in different positions on a second piece of paper. What else will you include in your composition?
