Primary Insc: Ilias arrived in Australia in 1954. He was a member of the first Kalyminian diving crew which the Australian Government brought out to dive for pearl sh shell off the continent's north-west coast. 'I wish I was there [Australia] still, but now I'm an old man... I went for work, we wnated work, we didnt k now whether we wanted to stay. I would have liked to stay there longer... I had my mother here... my wife wanted to see her daughter and the grandchildr en... so we came back here. I did thitry years straightin Darwin...went nowe where else, only Katherine, Wyndham, Gove, that's all...thirty years straigh t in one time...then I came back here.. the wife came to Australia around'81 ...twenty-eight years she was on her own herre.
