Place made: Sumatra, Indonesia
Creation Notes: Kleingrothe began work in Indonesia from 1889 and it is likely the images were made between 1889 - 1890 as Kleingrothe formed a partnership with Stafhell in 1890. Dutch curator Mattie Boom in her article 'Fotografie in de Sumatra-albums van Paul Sandel' indicates the 12 unidentified prints are by Kleingrothe for Lambert & Co., Singapore on the basis of Dutch text captions and negative numbers.
