Views and costumes of Japan c 1872 Description: Album containing 51 albumen print photographs, consisting of 1 title-­-page, 39 monochrome views, each approx. 230 x 290 mm, and 11 hand-­-coloured genre studies, each approx. 195 x 245 mm, mounted recto on 51 leaves (+ 1 blank), each 295 x 450 mm, contained in original cloth bniding with leather spine and corners, 335 x 500 mm. In very good condition, with some restoration to the binding. A very rare example of Stillfried’s earliest photographic ork in Japan, created during the occupancy of his first studio in Yokohama at No. 61 Main Street. Consisting of 39 views d 11 portraits taken by Stillfried during 1871-­-72,
