Edition Notes: This is a first attemp at a view of Newcastle with Christ Church Cathedral on the left. The plate seems to have been abandoned after a few proofs (only two known). An impression from a second plate, with the Church more prominent and the title 'View of Hunter's River. Newcastle. New South Wales' is printed on verso. Impresions from the second plate were included in 'Wallis, James. An historical account of the colony of New South Wales and its dependent settlements. London: R. Ackermann, 1821'.
