Various artist's proofs and trial proofs of the individual 'Keiths' were pulled on 30 x 22 inch paper. Some in a single colour, others with a tone or overall grid as a background. During the proofing stage several stones broke, others filled in, making it necessary for Close to draw each image several times before the print could be completed. Only 'Keith III' (also in our collection) was ultimately editioned as a single image.
