Pastoral regions in Sussex, Surrey, Essex and Kent proved a magnet to Arthur Streeton over six summers between 1898 and 1906. In 1904, staying close to the town of Hayes, near Kent, he painted harvesting scenes, attracted to the new mown hay and cloud formations.
