Poems is a book of eight Joan Mitchell lithographs illuminating the poetry of Nathan Kernan, with title and colophon pages, paper folio and cloth-covered box. The edition is 76 books with one Right To Print, two proofs, one archive, twelve artist's proofs and six trial proof copies. All books are signed on the colophon page by the artist and poet with book numbering by the artist. Joan Mitchell created the colour lithographs at TGL Mount Kisco New York in March 1992. The sequence of the book is as follows: Paper folio, Title Page, Table of Contents, Joie de Vivre, In Time, Morning, Cobble Hill, Mornings on the Bridge, Sky, Urn Burial, Avenue of Poplars and colophon. The lithography with poems, title insert on box and title on paper folio set in Univers, were printed by Lee Funderburg assisted by KET on white, TGL paper handmade by Tom Strianese, Jed Marshall and Robert Meyer at the TGL paper mill. The paper folio was made of recycled lithographic proofs from the artist's earlier projects at TGL. Typography by Emsworth Design inc. Box by Portfoliobox inc.
