Edition Notes: For a detailed listing of images see the 'Notes' field. Each group of Mylar sheets (seperated by a sheet of white interleave) were once part of several Mylar 'sketchbooks' put together by Kenneth Tyler for Hockney to use whilst travelling. The Mylar sketchbooks allowed Hockney to draw and paint 'in situ' whilst simultaneously creating the colour seperations required for printing. The artist drew/painted directly onto the Mylar sheet with crayon/paint. This portfolio contains Mylars that were made into printing elements and used to print editioned works and also Mylars that were never used as printing elements (the drawings never editioned). Many of the images in this protfolio informed David Hockney's 'Moving focus' series of 1984-85. The Mylar sheets are bound in a black, hard, vinyl cover with three bolts. This binding can be taken apart.
