Edition Notes: Sydney Ball provides the following account: I designed the poster at the bequest of John Stringer by a phone call from John who was in Melbourne and I, in Adelaide, teaching at the SASA. As finance for the poster was limited there was no payment involved. I set to and designed it with the brief that it was for an exhibition that Brian Finemore and John were putting together to be called the “Field”. It was to be a plethora of styles so I accordingly designed the poster with that in mind and not specifically related to “colour field” painting. I asked John Copeland who was teaching Advertising design at the school to do the text layout an overlay for the printing. When everything was completed I packaged it and sent it off to John in Melbourne. Whether he organised the printing or Finemore did I don’t know; at the finish I received several copies of the poster. Email Sydney Ball to Susan Jenkins and Roger Butler, 29 April 2016
