Barupu (Ba-Ru-Pu; Sissano) Paddle Place made: Sissano Lagoon, Sandaun (West Sepik) province, Papua New Guinea Melanesia
Creation Notes: Attributed to Barupu (Ba-Ru-Pu) people on the basis of a discussion with Helen Dennett on 16 December 2014. She has several paddles in the style of this piece which she field collected in Sissano Lagoon. She says that they are only made by the Ba-Ru-Pu (Barupu) people who are the proper inhabitants for the lagoon. She says that a lot of other people drifted in there because of the mission which was established there. [Michael Gunn 15 January 2015]
