Will Dyson made hundreds of drawings showing the day-to-day hardships and deprivations on the Western Front, and the 'heroism of endurance' of the Australian soldiers. It was Dyson's genius that in his drawings he was able to express his profound admiration and sympathy for the men without in any way glorifying the war itself.
